As an Authorised Marriage Celebrant, I am required by the Commonwealth Government to recommend Pre Marriage Counselling.
Pre Marriage Counselling is something a lot of couple may initially discard as being something they do not need.
However, research would indicate that pre marriage counselling can help most couples deal with their new relationship - even if they have previously been living together (The Australian Institute of Family Studies found that those who lived together before marriage are more likely to get divorced). For this reason the Federal Government of Australia recommends that all couples seriously consider counselling prior to their marriage.
